Mission Services Associations

Harold and Adele McFarland in Minneapolis, Minnesota, began Mission Services Association in 1946. It was moved to Joliet, Illinois, in 1952. Currently, it is located in Knoxville, Tennessee. Its purpose was, and continues to be, to serve missionaries by supplying their needs. This includes helping missionaries to get equipment, medical supplies, or other items purchased and shipped to their field of work, helping them with visas or passports, or helping them in any other endeavor where they may need assistance.
One of their primary objectives is to supply the local church with missionary information in which to aid the congregation in its missionary knowledge. They do this by printing a monthly newsletter, HORIZONS, which has news articles and prayer concerns for missionaries around the world. They also have slides and videos from many missionaries that can be rented by local churches for missionary programs. HORIZONS is available in the Atrium of our church building each month.
In addition to printing HORIZONS, Mission Services also edits and prints newsletters for many missionaries. Their staff keeps current the mailing lists for these missionaries and mails the newsletters
for them. This gives the missionaries' forwarding agents more time to keep up with their financial and other responsibilities for the missionaries.
